Going into the 14th week of the NFL 2017 season, the Eagles were flying high with the unexpected record of 10-2 and ready to take on the high powered Rams. We were all anxious to see the matchup of the quarterbacks picked no. 1 and no. 2 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. It was a great high-scoring game and the Eagles came away victorious 43-35 aided by Carson Wentz’s 291 yards passing and 4 TDs. But as we all know, the team took a huge hit late in the third quarter when Wentz dove for the end-zone, tearing his ACL. When the story was confirmed, the collective wind was knocked out of each and every Philadelphia Eagles fan. Was this the end of this amazing season?
No, No it wasn’t!
Nick Foles had to step in and take the reins. Was he up to the task? He looked good in the Giant’s game completing 24 0f 38 for 237 yards and 4 TDs. But, things got ugly in the Oakland game and then the Cowboys’ game (even though it was a meaningless game since we had clinched a first-round bye and home-field advantage) left many of us wondering if we had any shot of winning the divisional playoff game against the Falcon’s. The oddsmakers made the number 1 seed, home team, underdogs and we embraced it. Then, in our usually Philly fan, “Nobody disrespects us” fashion we rallied around our team and poured our hearts out once again for this team we love so much, and we took it to the Falcon’s advancing to the NFC Championship!
This is a special team and a special town. We defied the odds, pulled ourselves up off the mat and got back in the fight and found a way to win. Today will be no exception. Our defense, along with the Foles-Pederson combo, will shut down those Vikings and brings this town the NFC Championship and ultimately the Lombardi Trophy!
Stay Passionate, Loyal and Resilient.
Go Birds!!!!
